Studying Tips?

Hello People
So I am not quite sure as to how many of you awesome people out there are currently studying. I stopped studying about 3 years back after I started working but for godknowswhat reason I decided to give a shot at some accountancy exams and to be able to enter that course I need to clear a test. And to clear that test I need to study which I find highly difficult =/

So I would like to ask you guys if you can please put in the comment box any tips or suggestions on how to manage studying and working. within less than 2 months I have that test coming up, I have 4 thick books to study from and I am just too lazy to do it once I am back from work around 6-ish in the evening. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

  1. Good luck with it. I did a 4-year correspondence course to get my diploma in wine marketing, and worked all the way through it, much of it in split shifts in restaurants. To this day I don't know how I passed. I think it may be because I wanted to. I guess head space is an important element. If you view the study as an acceptable way to spend your leisure time, it will probably work out. Luckily for me, my study involved drinking wine and touring cellar doors!

  3. Put aside just one hour a day- just one. A specific hour of the day that you will sit on your desk (away from access to facebook or a blackberry!) and tell yourself it isn't much- only 60 minutes- and make the most of it! For accountancy, the best thing that works is reading the explanation, going through an example question, and then doing a whole question (without peeking at the answer) and then look at the answer and learn from the mistakes. This is what works best for me. Remember to be self-disciplined!

  5. Just go through your prescribed books quickly, and at the end of the chapter ask yourself questions.
Trust me, if your concepts are clear and with a little bit of IQ level and common sense, you sure will be able to manage your whole course material in the shortest possible time.
    GOD BLESS YOU.

  7. Haha! I think everyone went through those times when you try to read, but you still have don't have the slightest idea of what you are studying. Eventually, you get disinterested in the subject. I think it all boils down to how motivated you are, even though you are not into the subject. Using mnemonics is quite effective, and it's fun too!
